So, having been away for a couple of days and the Social Studies homework well overdue, I was surprised, despite numerous reminders, that some people have not passed in some of the work that was due, namely:
1. The first character design
2. The set of characters that follow the timeline
The second project is actually key to what we will tackle next, so it is important that it be in, so we can work on further projects in this unit. In the meantime, I will be forced to give those who have not passed work in, an 'I' for incomplete. We will need to talk about your participation in the Haunted House, if you cannot complete one assignment in three weeks.
Hope everyone has a glorious four-day weekend, and was very productive! Just a reminder that assignments were due for Monday in both English and Social Studies for both grades.
It is official, this is the 9/10 Variety Show week, starting with a in-school show on Wednesday (dress rehearsal), then Thursday and Friday night at 8pm, and finally, a Saturday show at 2pm.
The students are still working very hard to nail down acts and dances, so please make sure that all students are here on time.
Please be aware, at this point, the show dictates that if someone has missed rehearsals, or is late, they may be cut from the show to make sure that the final show is ready for viewing. At this point in the process, any absences will be treated as unexcused, this close to our show.
Final draft of Variety Show Posters are due on Thursday. September 13th
Music, theatre and dance, this little extravaganza is the Junior MAD crew looking to stretch their legs and put on a show. Our first show of the season, and tickets are $8 at the door.
We have a number of shows coming up as options for students to go see. The season at the Guild is only a couple of months long and students are required to go see three productions as part of their Drama mark, and fill out Play Critic forms the day after. Music, dance and movies do not count as proper Theatre productions for this assignment. That being said, here's what's up in September:
September 22nd - Theatre in the Bush - This is Brian Fidler's show that he puts on every year our on his property, and if you want to see some raw theatre experience outdoors, email him for tickets at email@example.com to get tickets- they go fast! It is also later in the day after our final Variety Show production at 2pm that day. (not sure of the ticket cost)
September 25th - Lawrence and Hollowman - Mandatory show for MAD students, Carolyn and I will be there with students that night for a preview show. This show is at the Guild theatre and is a preview show just for the MAD students. Drop them off and pick them up! (7pm show starts, drop-off around 6:30, please.) - this show is free!
September 30th - Queen Choir - a Mandatory show at the Old Fire Hall (downtown) - For MAD students, the show starts at 7pm, and is a fee in class of $5
